What is LED Light Therapy?

Simply, LED Light Therapy is a FDA approved treatment that uses different colored lights to cause a specific reaction beneath the top layer of the skin.  Light therapy is a safe, painless, non-invasive approach to skin care that does not require any down time.  This advanced treatment can be received as a stand alone service or combined with a microdermabrasion or chemical peel to enhance results.  On the other hand, it is a great alternative to chemical peels and microdermabrasion during the summer months or for clients who prefer a more gentler yet effective therapy.

Which color lights are used and why?

  • Blue - kills acne bacteria,  prevents future breakouts, and reduces acne inflammation
  • Green - Improves the overall skin tone by preventing excessive melanin production which causes skin discolorations
  • Yellow - Reduces visible signs of inflammation and removes toxins by promoting lymphatic drainage.  Great for smoker's skin.
  • Purple - Combines the acne fighting, anti-aging and healing benefits of both red and blue light
  • Red - Rejuvenates the skin by stimulating the production of collagen, speeding up the healing process, and tightening the skin.  Minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • White - Improves the appearance of aging and sagging skin by promoting tissue strength
  • Light Blue - Promotes the production of collagen, reduces oil production and speeds up skin's metabolism

Who should receive LED Light Therapy?

LED Light Therapy is great for anyone who wants to improve the condition of their skin and is great for all skin types.  Clients who are pregnant, taking steroids or receiving cortisone injections, epileptic, have natural or medication induced light sensitivity should not receive light therapy.

How often should you receive Light Therapy?

During the correction phase of your skin care journey, it is recommended that you receive a series of  6 to 10 treatments at one to two week increments. Once you have entered the maintenance phase, it is recommended that you receive a treatment at least once every 30 days.

How long does the treatment take?

The stand alone LED Light  Facial takes approximately 30 minutes and includes cleansing, exfoliation,  and application of a masque, moisturizer and SPF.  When done in conjunction with other skin care treatments; it may add an additional 10 to 20 minutes to your treatment time.

Will you see immediate results?

In many cases, the skin will appear more plump, radiant and calm after just one treatment.  The results are cumulative, you will see more noticeable improvements after receiving a series of treatments.

I hear this all the time, "It was soooo long and I was too embarrassed to come in like that".   I completely understand; however, the more the better.  Letting hair grow out before getting your first wax can be frustrating if you are  used to shaving or trimming a few times a week.  Unfortunately, wax will not pick up hair that is too short.  At Brow to Toe Waxing and Skin Care Studio,  the esthetician has found the session is less painful and that clients get better results when the hair is 1/3 to 1/2 inch long.   With that being said, leave the trimming to us!

A complimentary trim will be provided with all first time waxing services if needed.  Your esthetician will trim before the waxing service in order to:

  • Increase client comfort
  • Inspect the skin for any contraindications
  • Identify the direction of hair growth
  • Ensure the hair is properly embedded in the wax which prevents breakage just above or below the surface
Thinking of including waxing in your grooming routine?  If so,  give us a call, we can do a short phone consultation to determine an ideal day to schedule your session.  You may also take advantage of our online booking system, but keep in mind you will need to reserve your appointment 3 weeks after your last shave or trim.

I know you are thinking, "Great, another rule!"  I promise the 1:61 rule is one that you will want/need to follow in order to improve your skin condition.  We have all been told to perform our skin care routine twice a day which equals 62 times a month.  So, what is this rule?

1 - the number of times you should visit an esthetician for treatments
61 - the number of times you will be performing your skin care routine at home
